Design-Build 101
Presenter: Mike Loulakis, Esq. - Wickwire Gavin P.C., Vienna, Virginia

Description: This program will introduce the range of design-build process variations and identify adjustments to the traditional roles of the parties for successful implementation of design-build projects. Important contract provisions will be reviewed and time will be provided for discussion of special insurance issues and public procurement issues. Identification of sources of contract forms and guide documents for use in developing project documents will also be covered.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand what variations of design-build processes exist and how to select the best process for a project.

2. Understand different roles, responsibilities and risk allocation of the design-build process affect the form of design-build contracts, and project procedures.

3. Have several resources for assistance in drafting design-build contract documents.

4. Be able to identify necessary elements required for successful implementation of design-build projects.

5. Be able to identify and avoid common problems which arise on design-build projects.
